So as I am sitting here on the couch, my one-year-old pug nestled between my legs, I’ve decided to come on back here and start blogging again. But what should I write about? It seems that my favorite topic has always been the promotion of movies.
I don’t like being a film reviewer, although I don’t think any less of the film critics, because I do think that they are a much needed component to the film world.
However, I’ve always been one who enjoys the hype leading up to the movies.
I’ve been really impressed with how the producers of Deadpool have been assaulting the media world with their awesome programming leading up to the upcoming sequel
I firmly believe that all of this new media has created an insatiable need for content and I like how the production companies are feeding into that need. My hope is that it creates a whole new genre of content production instead of just releasing a trailer or 12.
With trailers, it used to be that I will get all excited about going to a movie and seeing the brand new trailer for something but I was looking forward to. Now, it’s all about finding out about that new trailer on Facebook and then jumping onto my couch, firing up the Roku, clicking on my YouTube app, and watching the trailer on TV.
That practice does kind a ruin the experience of seeing it on the big screen in the movie theaters. Which is why I think that a new type of promotional programming needs to be fostered so we can go back to having that awesome feeling of seeing a trailer in a movie theater.
So here’s to hoping that we see more of this promotional programming in the upcoming season. In the meantime, I’m going to look forward to waiting on Marvel producing a multitude of superhero movies for me to look forward to.
